Baltic and International Maritime Council

The Baltic and International Maritime Council ( German about: the Baltic Sea, and International Maritime Conference in short, BIMCO, formerly The Baltic and International Maritime Conference) is an international shipping organization. Headquarters of the Organization is the Copenhagen suburb of Bagsvaerd, Denmark.

The BIMCO, founded in 1905, acts as an independent association of shipowners, shipping companies, shipbrokers, shipping agents, and numerous other maritime stakeholders. Objectives of BIMCO, the improvement of standards and harmonization of rules and laws in the maritime domain. In addition, the organization in a developing one for all sides reasonable and nondiscriminatory Shipping Policy works towards.

The BIMCO is attached to an International non-governmental organization ( INGO ) and a number of organizations of the United Nations as an organization with observer status. In addition, there are close links to numerous maritime authorities, government bodies and other shipping operators in the European Union, the United States and in Asia.

The work of the BIMCO is made with respect to its members together from the collection and provision of a wide range of shipping- related data and information as well as the advice and assistance in practical cases.
