Bamboo is a country town in the north of Jamaica. The city is located in Middlesex County in the Parish of Saint Ann. According to official census Bamboo had 3,732 inhabitants in 1991. Projections in 2013 showed a population of 4,264 people.

Geography

Bamboo is located on the B11, between the cities of Claremont and Brown's Town, in an average of 640 meters above the sea level. The northern Atlantic coast is about 12 kilometers away from the village. The nearest town is Philadelphia, a distance of 8 kilometers west of the town. The nearest major town is Ocho Rios at a distance of about 25 kilometers.

Infrastructure

The water supply is a problem in Bamboo dar. Most of the buildings in the town had in December 2012, no running water.

In Bamboo Hill Top Juvenile Correctional the Centre, a prison operated by the Department of Correctional Services, Jamaica is located. Furthermore, there is a police station.

Train

There are two schools in the city. The Bamboo Primary and Junior High and Elementary School.
