Band of Susans

Band of Susans was a New York rock band.

Band History

In the name of Susan's bands came one, since the foundation in 1986, two members were called Susan (Members see table at right - top).

The first EP of the formation, Blessing and Curse (1987 ), was released on Robert Pooses own label trace element, after which they completed a contract with Mute Records. Hope Against Hope followed in 1988. After the album was on em market left Rogers, Lyall and Tallman Bands of Susans and were replaced by Karen Haglof and Page Hamilton. After Love Agenda ( LP ) and a Peel Sessions EP, the two new members also left, but Husick Anne and Mark Lonergan came to the group. Created three albums and one EP in this formation.

The last published production Ahead is published on a collection of wire covers.

After the dissolution in 1996 Poss and Stenger played with Bruce Gilbert GilbertPossStenger. Then Poss solo went on and focused on producing.

Music

The music is characterized by a full sound ( three guitars) and a more conventional song structure ( Poss was a big fan of the Rolling Stones and covered Child of the Moon and Paint It Black). Band of Susans are in the No Wave - involved scene that spawned already Sonic Youth and Glenn Branca.
