Geography

Bansang on the south bank of the Gambia River is located in the Central River Region District Fulladu West, the largest town of the region, situated on the South Bank Road, the main highway from Gambia. The city is located about 28 kilometers southwest of Janjanbureh and about 50 kilometers west of Basse Santa Su.

Economy and infrastructure

In Bansang is a main hospital, which ensures health care for the entire region. It was a long time the only hospital, next to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul. The device has an own landing strip for airplanes.

The International Trypanotolerance Centre operates a field station here.
