Baoudetta

Baoudetta (also: Baoudéta ) is a rural municipality in the Department Tessaoua in Niger.

Geography

Baoudetta is located at the junction of Great Landscape Sudan Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Maïjirgui the west and north, the east and Korgom Koona in the south. The municipality is divided into seven administrative villages, a traditional village and 14 hamlets. The main town of the country church is Baoudetta consisting of the administrative villages Baoudéta Haoussa and Baoudéta Peul.

History

The rural community Baoudetta went as an administrative unit 2002 through the course of a nationwide administrative reform from the northwestern part of the canton Korgom.

Population

At the 2001 census Baoudetta had 8416 inhabitants. For the year 2010 11.375 inhabitants were calculated. The majority provide Hausa, Fulani and Tuareg.

Economy and infrastructure

The three economic pillars of the rural community are farming, animal husbandry of cattle, sheep and goats as well as commercial beekeeping. The agriculture is affected by, among other things, land degradation and inadequate agricultural equipment. The agricultural use extends increasingly to areas that were previously pasture. This threatens the livestock, which is operated by sedentary farmers and in the form of transhumance.
