Baraki Barak also Barakī Barak or Baraki Bara written, is a city in the Baraki Barak District in the Lugar province, Afghanistan, which was the capital of the province Lugar earlier. The place is situated in mountainous terrain in the valley of Logarflusses at an altitude above sea level of 1937 m.

Baraki Barak is located on a strategic military road, because it goes from Kabul to Pakistan over two passes, the Khost - Gardez Pass and the Peiwar Pass. The main road from Ghazni to Kabul, a section of the Asian Highway, passes 20 km to the west of the city and is accessible by a road which branches off.

Ethnicities

Baraki Barak is historically the home of the tribes of the Burki / Baraki / Ormuri, which are called Burki outside of Afghanistan. It also Pashtuns and Tajiks live in the city, which is named after the tribe of Baraki. Some of the Baraki still speak the Baraki language, who live in the northwest, west of the city and in the city.
