The Peiwar Pass, also called Peiwar Kotal Pass, is one of the few navigable passes connecting Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pass road

The mountain road overcomes the Peiwar - pass filter with a peak height of 3439 m. The summit is located about 20 km west of Parachinar. The pass is a few months impassable in winter due to snowfall and icing.

History

By Kurramtal previously led one of the main trade routes to Kabul and Gardez in Afghanistan. During the Second Afghan War in 1878, the Gurkhas and Highlanders of the Kurram Valley Force of the British Field Marshal Frederick Roberts stormed the Peiwar Pass, defeated the Afghan forces, and invaded Afghanistan to Kabul.

The pass road is the road in the Afghan province of Paktia to Gardez. From there you can reach the area of Tora Bora in Nangarhar province, where in 2001 took place the battle of Tora Bora. From about the Gardez Khost Khost and Gardez Pass Kabul can be achieved. This is the shortest route from Kabul to Pakistan.
