Bardi people

The Bardi are a tribe of Aborigines, in a part of the Dampier Peninsula north of Broome living in the region of Kimberley.

In addition to the Bardi there are the tribes Djarindjin, Lombadina, which are the three Aboriginesstämme who live in this area.

The singer-songwriter and musician Jimmy Chi comes from the Bardis and many Aborigines who reside in the area of Broome today.

The Kooljaman resort on Cape Leveque is operated by tribal members of the Bardi. Most of the Bardi lives in the small settlement of One Arm Point on the peninsula, is operated on the offshore reef on a commercial fishing of sea snails.

On the Dampier Peninsula there is a Lombadina Aboriginal Corporation, which is operated by the Aboriginal Lombadina and accommodation offers.

About 25 speakers speak the language of the Bardi fluently, but to identify more than a thousand people as Bardi.
