Baron Grenfell

Baron Grenfell, of Kilvey in the county of Glamorgan, is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, named after the family Grenfell.

Award

The title was created in 1902 for the officer Sir Francis Wallace Grenfell. This particular had served in Egypt during the Urabi and the Mahdi uprising. He had been Sirdar of the Egyptian army, and later Governor of Malta and Commander in Chief in Ireland.

Another title

The current Baron was appointed in 2000 next to his hereditary title to the Life peer as Baron Grenfell of Kilvey, of Kilvey in the County Swansea. He will thus have a seat in the House of Lords, were excluded from the hereditary Lords in 1999, can take.
