Barry Ferguson

Barry Ferguson MBE ( born February 2, 1978 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player. He is currently the English second division side FC Blackpool under contract.

Since 17 June 2006, he is a Member of the Order of the British Empire.

Youth

Since early childhood Ferguson Rangers fan has been. His older brother Derek was in the 80's part of the team.

Glasgow Rangers

Ferguson began his professional career in 1996 at Rangers and quickly became a pillar of the team ( in 2000 he was captain ). With him, the Rangers won in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2003, the Scottish Championship and 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003, the Scottish Cup. Ferguson himself was elected in 2001 and 2003 as Scotland's Player of the Year.

Blackburn Rovers

Then he moved for 9.25 million euros to Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League in the summer of 2003.

Return to the Rangers

However, through a serious injury Ferguson could not realize its potential and returned in January 2005 on the Rangers back ( Transfer fee: EUR 7.25 million ). The team was with him. Immediately back champions and League Cup winners

Birmingham City

In July 2009, Ferguson moved again in the English Premier League. For newly promoted Birmingham City Ferguson signed a contract until the end of the season 2011/2012. His transfer fee was around 1.2 million euros.

Blackpool FC

In the summer of 2011, Ferguson joined the Premier League relegation Blackpool. He signed a two year contract there.

National

After the 3-0 defeat against the Netherlands on 28 March 2009 Ferguson was involved along with his team mate Allan McGregor into a drinking binge at the hotel. Because of this escapade both players were banned for the next game against Iceland on the whistle. There, however, they fell by obscene gestures before the game continues to be negative. On April 3, the Scottish Football Association announced therefore that McGregor and Ferguson will no longer play for the Bravehearts. In addition, he was suspended from the Glasgow Rangers for two weeks without pay and was the rest of the season no longer captain of the team.
