Bartl Gensbichler

Bartl Gensbichler ( born September 9, 1956 in Hinterglemm ) is a former Austrian alpine skier. It was founded in 1974 European Junior Champion in downhill, won a World Cup races and three European Cup races.

Career

His first major successes celebrated Gensbichler at the Junior European Championships in 1974 in the Czechoslovak Jasna. He won in the downhill and was second place in both slalom and giant slalom. That same winter he also won the European Cup the first points, a year later he came in slalom in Sauze d'Oulx for the first time on the podium.

The first European Cup victory celebrated Gensbichler in the 1975/76 season in slalom from home. With a further two podium finishes, he came up to seventh place overall and third place in the downhill standings. In the World Cup he brought on 25 January 1976 with eighth place in the combination of Kitzbühel his first points. That same winter he was also Austrian Vice Champion in slalom. In the coming years the Salzburg was especially successful in the downhill.

In winter 1976/77 Gensbichler won the second European Cup departure from Laax, after he had already occupied the second place in the first. He came up behind Günther Alster to second place in the downhill standings. In the Salzburg World Cup finished second in the 1976/77 season in Garmisch -Partenkirchen and the first exit at the season finale in Heavenly Valley each ninth. The second exit in the Californian ski resort, he could very surprising decide for themselves.

In the next World Cup season Gensbichler could not repeat that success. A fifth place in Cortina d' Ampezzo and a sixth place in Laax were his best results. He was more successful in the European Cup, where he took first and second place in the two departures from home.

In winter 1978/79 Gensbichler suffered a serious knee injury, so he finally had to end his career. After his playing days, he took over the ski and snowboard school in Saalbach -Hinterglemm, which he heads today. Since 1983 he is with the group " Bartl Gensbichler and his Skilehrermusi " musically successful. 2011 Gensbichler was elected president of the Salzburg Regional Ski Association.
