Bartolomeo Bimbi

Bartolomeo Bimbi (* 1648 in Florence, † 1729 ) was a Florentine painter, who specialized in still life.

Career

Bartolomeo Bimbi studied in Rome, to his teachers belonged to Lorenzo Lippi. In his early years he also painted historical pictures, but later devoted himself entirely to painting of still life, particularly flowers and fruits images. So he created " in 1700 for northern Italian country houses paintings with numerous varieties of tree fruits (...), for example, a representation alone with 34 lemon varieties ." He painted his pictures and documented with scientific accuracy. Bimbi worked mainly for the Medici, his main client was Cosimo III. , Who had a passion for botany.
