Basava Premanand

Basava Premanand (* 1930 in Kozhikode, Kerala; † 4 October 2009) was an Indian skeptic and rationalist. He was the founder of the Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations.

Life

Premanand grew up as the son of theosophical parents. He used such as James Randi, his knowledge of magic tricks to supposedly debunk supernatural powers with natural explanations. Here he attacked especially Sathya Sai Baba. He advocated for science and against religion. The he founded the Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations toured villages to educate people and to warn against the dangers of religion. He also gave The Indian Skeptic out. He followed in his ministry Abraham Kovoor.
