Basile Mvé Engone

Basile MVe Engone SDB ( * May 30, 1941 in Nkolmelène, Gabon ) is Archbishop of Libreville.

Life

After studying Catholic theology, Basile MVe Engone on 29 June 1973 was ordained a priest of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

On April 24, 1980, Pope John Paul II appointed Coadjutor Bishop in the Diocese of Oyem. He received his episcopal consecration of the Bishop of Oyem, François Ndong four months later; Co-consecrators were André Fernand Anguilé and Félicien -Patrice Makouaka. Following the resignation of TU East on August 23, 1982 MVe Engone succeeded him as Bishop of Oyem. On 3 April 1998 he was appointed John Paul II appointed Archbishop of Libreville. On 27 June 2007 took Archbishop Engone MVe, along with several other bishops, at a briefing in the Apostolic Palace to the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum on the celebration of the Tridentine Mass in part.
