Batang County

The circle Batang ( Tib: ' ba' thang, Tibetan: འབའ་ཐང་, Bathang, Chinese巴塘 县/巴塘 县, Pinyin Batang. ) Belongs to the Autonomous District Garzê of Tibetans in the Chinese province of Sichuan. In 1999 he was one of 44,355 inhabitants. Its main town is the large village Qakyung (夏 邛 镇/夏 邛 镇, Xiàqióng ).

The circle lies on the east bank of the Jinsha Jiang. It borders on Yunnan and Tibet.

Attractions are the place Longwangtang and the Buddhist Monastery Kangning ( Kangning si康宁 寺).

The Tibetan folk dance Xianzi from Batang is on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the People's Republic of China, also the Tibetan opera from there.

1870, the town was destroyed by a major earthquake.
