Bathurst Lighthouse

The Bathurst Lighthouse is one of two lighthouses on Rottnest Iceland, the other is the Wadjemup Lighthouse. The island of Rottnest Iceland is located in Western Australia near Perth. The Bathurst Lighthouse is located on Bathurst Point in the northeast of the island and was taken into operation in 1900, as there had been a number of ship accidents in the area, including the loss of the ship City of York in 1899.

The light source and the Lantern House were originally used on Cape Leeuwin, but built on Rottnest Iceland. 1920, the original acetylene flame was replaced by a lightning that made the lighthouse keepers obsolete. Electric light was installed in 1986.

The Bathurst Lighthouse served as a rear signal light for both installed on Kingston Reef lights that should the ships of Fremantle through the reefs of the island led safely. The flashes of the lighthouse were characterized by four flashes lit up the every 16 seconds.
