Battle Masters

The Claymore Saga ( The fateful struggle of the Celtic kingdom ) of MB is the German version of the English board game Battle Masters, published in 1992. It is a fantasy strategy game with over 100 miniatures ( match figures of Citadel Miniatures ), which was developed in collaboration with Games Workshop.

The Claymore Saga is a game for 2 or more players, ages 10, in which each player leads an army or assigned units of an army and try to defeat his opponents in an open field battle.

Playmaking

The miniatures consist of different colored plastic and must be assembled before the first game in part and stuck on base plates. It usually form several figures on a base plate of a regiment. The total of 25 regiments of the base game are assigned to two armies: the Imperial Army and the Shadow Army. Each army consists of only its disposal troop types, such as imperial crossbowmen, halberdiers, gunners, and knights on the imperial side and mythical creatures such as orcs, goblins, satyrs, giants and "dark" knights and archers on the side of the shadow army.

The battle is fought on a 2m ² large play mat, which is divided into hexagonal fields. The printed area with trails and rivers is modified by palisades, hedges, river crossings, swamps and a fortified defense tower.

Game History

The armies are at the beginning of the battle mostly opposite on opposite sides of the play mat. Here, every commander already tried to build his army to occupy strategic positions. However, it can be specified by the scenario, certain starting positions. The goal of the battle is usually to eliminate the enemy army.

The turn order is not regularly alternating, but is determined by the drawing of action cards. These specify which army may be possible to move that regiment and attack types. Here, each regiment listed may move one hex per action map usually. Fights are fought with the help of six -sided dice. To this end, each regiment type is assigned a certain number of attack dice and a defense value ( armor).

Background

The background of the Claymore Saga is the Warhammer universe of Games Workshop. All troop types can be used in the tabletop Warhammer Fantasy Battle will find: Orks, Chaos Warriors, Beastmen, etc. Unlike HeroQuest However, another board game in the Warhammer universe, this relationship from the German translation was completely removed. So from the Empire and his troops the "Celtic Empire " and were " imperial army " animal people mutated into satyrs, gnomes goblins, orcs Berserkers and Warriors of Chaos demons.

Extensions

For the Claymore Saga are two expansion boxes that provide both sides with new forces: first, the Imperial Guard and the other, the Shadow Legion. This extension boxes also introduce a points system, customized armies can be assembled with, instead of having to resort to the underground armies.
