Bavarian Congregation

The Bavarian Benedictine Congregation is an association in principle independent of Bavarian Benedictine monasteries. 1684 by Pope Innocent XI was founded by the Breve " Circumspecta " under the title of the holy guardian angel.

History

The Bavarian Benedictine Congregation belonged until the secularization in 1803 following abbeys to: Andechs, Attel, Benediktbeuren, Ensdorf, Frauenzell, Mallersdorf, Michel Field, Oberaltaich, Prüfening, St. Emmeram in Regensburg, Reichenbach, Rott, Scheyern, Tegernsee, Thierhaupten, Weihenstephan, Weissenohe, world castle and Wessobrunn. 1858, she was by Pope Pius IX. from after the secularization by King Ludwig I of Bavaria restored monasteries Metten, St. Boniface (Munich ) rebuilt with Andechs and World castle. The remaining monasteries were partly by later connection part in their rebuilding this: Scheyern 1861 Schaeftlarn 1866, St. Stephan ( Augsburg ) and Otto Beuren 1893 Ettal 1900 Plankstetten 1904 Niederaltaich 1918 tube 1984.
