Bay Circuit Trail

The Bay Circuit Trail is a total of 200 mi ( 321.9 km ) long distance hiking trail in the state of Massachusetts in the United States. It begins just north of Boston on Plum Iceland in Newburyport, leads in a wide arc counterclockwise through the eastern areas of the state to the metropolitan region of Greater Boston around and finally ends at the Kingston Bay again on the Atlantic. The trail is managed by the Bay Circuit Alliance ( BCA), founded in 1990, which is supported by the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Trustees of Reservations since 2012.

Description of the path

History

The first concept of the long-distance route was created in 1929 with the goal of creating a " outer Emerald Necklace ," which takes up the well-known Boston life's work of Frederick Law Olmsted conceptually, in its extent but exceeds many times over. The Bay Circuit Trail should the ever-growing population in the metropolitan area of ​​Greater Boston offer green spaces and more opportunities for recreation. Sections

Bay Circuit Alliance
