Bazaga (also: Bagaza ) is a rural municipality in the department of Birni - N'Konni in Niger.

Geography

Bazaga lies in the large landscape Sudan and shares land borders with the neighboring state of Nigeria. The neighboring communities in Niger are Allela the west and north and Birni - N'Konni in the east. The municipality is divided into 26 administrative villages and 15 hamlets. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Bazaga (also: Bagaza ).

History

The rural community Bazaga went as an administrative unit 2002 through the course of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Birni - N'Konni.

Population

At the 2001 census Bazaga had 26,085 inhabitants. For the year 2010 35.146 inhabitants were calculated.

Policy

In the local elections in July 2004 Mamane Garba ( PNDS - Tarayya ) was elected mayor.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in that narrow zone along the border with Nigeria, ranging from Tounouga in the west to the east Malawa and operated in irrigated crop production for cash crops. By Bazaga the National Road 1, which here is part of the international highway Dakar - N'Djamena - Highway runs.
