Be-Bop Deluxe

Be-Bop Deluxe were an English progressive rock group of the 1970s. The band's style ranged from glam rock to pop to Heavy Metal.

History

Be-Bop Deluxe was founded in 1972 by guitarist Bill Nelson in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The other founding members were guitarist Ian Parkin, bassist and singer Robert Bryan and drummer Nicholas Chatterton - Dew. In 1974 their album Axe Victim whose style with David Bowie's glam rock was compared. A little later, Nelson disbanded the group in order to re-establish with other musicians.

The new line was next to Nelson from Paul Jeffreys ( bass), Milton Reame James (keyboards) and Simon Fox (drums). However, Jeffreys and Reame James left the band soon, and it came bassist Charlie Tumahai. This formation recorded the album Futurama. For the subsequent tour keyboardist Andy Clark came to the group with the recorded more albums, all of which were successful in the UK charts. The highest position achieved in 1977, the live album Live! In The Air Age - it peaked at number 10 the year before the band had with Ships in the Night at No. 23, a surprising hit single. In 1978, the band broke up for good.
