Beals is a village on Beals Iceland in Washington County, in the U.S. state of Maine in the United States. According to the census of 2010 it had a population of 508 with a population density of 34.6 inhabitants per km ². The village was incorporated in 1925 as part of the town of Jonesport. Beals is accessible via the Jonesport - Beals Bridge.
Traditionally known for its fishing and lobster, is Beals made by the Jonesport - Beals High School to the state basketball competitions a name. The name comes from the legendary Fischer Beals Long ( Tall ) Barney Beal ( 1835-1899 ).
Beals, as well Jonesport are part of the nature reserve Great Wass Archipelago, which is managed by the environmental organization The Nature Conservancy. The area has more than 43 islands and an area of 11.3 km ².
