Washington County (Maine)

Washington County is a county located in the state of Maine in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Machias.

It is sometimes called because in this easternmost County, the sun rises earlier than in the rest of the United States Washington County as the " County of the sunrise " (Sunrise County).

Economy

The economy of Washington County is mainly focused on fishing, logging and to a small extent on tourism. Large business enterprises are missing; Tourism also is not as pronounced as in the rest of Maine.

Geography
