Beat Albrecht von Ramstein

Beatus Albrecht of Ramstein (* July 14, 1594 in Waldighofen; † August 25, 1651 in Pruntrut ) was from 1646 to 1651 Prince-Bishop of the Bishopric of Basel.

Life

Ramstein 1615-1619 studied at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome and was then immediately vicar general of the diocese of Worms. 1629 he was a canon at the cathedral chapter Basel, where he in 1640 became the Domkustos. His election as bishop of Basel (1646 ) was not accepted for formal reasons of the Roman Curia and he was therefore really only appointed in 1650 to the bishop and was consecrated bishop in 1651.
