Beauty and the Beast ( Original title: Beauty and the Beast ) is an American drama series that was sent by CBS between 1987 and 1990.
Action
The focus is on the relationship between Vincent (Ron Perlman ), a mythic, noble man - lion, and Catherine (Linda Hamilton), a talented assistant district attorney in New York. An important role is also played a secret Utopian community of outsiders, who lives hidden underground. Through an empathic connection Vincent feels the feelings of Catherine and her guardian. The series follows the one hand, the developing relationship between the two characters, on the other hand, it portrays the division between New York and the hidden world below. From the original story notwithstanding, however, the " beast " after it was Catherine's love, not transformed in the sense of beauty ideals of the society. Attention is rather placed on the inner beauty of Vincent, from here it is defined as a person, and on the change in the life of Catherine, who is transformed by her relationship with Vincent. the design of Vincent was devised by Hollywood veteran Rick Baker.
After the death of Catherine in the third season Jo Anderson is the new leading lady, played by Diana Bennet, a police officer who investigated the murder of Catherine.

Since 2012, CBS Television Studios produced for the channel The CW a series based loosely on the remake. The main roles are to be seen (the " Beautiful "), Jay Ryan as Vincent (the " Beast" ) and Kristin Kreuk as Catherine. The first broadcast took place on 11 October 2012.
