History

The Beech Aircraft Corporation was founded in 1932 by Walter Beech and his wife Olive Ann Beech in Wichita (Kansas). Originally, only civil transport aircraft designed and built, but soon also training aircraft were included in the offer. The military also discovered the abilities of some Beech models, the Beech T- 34 Mentor is used for many years until today for pilot training in many states.

The first model was Beech Staggerwing Model 17R, which also quite a few units in the U.S. Army were used. 1948 Bonanza model was developed, which is still produced today.

On 8 February 1980, the company was bought by Raytheon. Formed in 1994 with Hawker Beech Aircraft, the Raytheon had previously acquired a year from British Aerospace, Raytheon Aircraft. Since its separation from the parent company in 2007, this company is called Hawker Beechcraft.
