Belalakaya

The Belalakaja from north

The Belalakaja (Russian Белалакая, which means as much as Striped Rock, English transcribed Belalakaya ) is a 3861 m high mountain in the Russian republic of Karachay -Cherkessia. Because of its shape it is also called the Matterhorn of the Caucasus.

The mountain named after him with a glacier ( Lednik Belalakaja ) on the eastern side is located three kilometers southwest of the small ski resort Dombai near the border with Georgia. It owes its name several to 50 meters wide bands white quartz on its rock walls.

The west wall has a height of 700 meters, the north-east face of a 1,000 meters.
