Belarus Black Pied

The White Russian ferrous pig ( Russian: Бeлopyccкaя чёpнo - пёcтpaя, Belarusian Chernobyl pestraja ) is a multi-purpose breed of pig from Belarus.

Breeding history

The breed originates from the Belarusian land hanging pigs with short ears off. In the 19th century Yorkshire pigs, Middle White, Tamworth pigs and Large Black had been crossed. In 1920 still Large White, Middle White, Berkshire pigs, Estonian bacon pigs and Swedish Landrace were added. In 1957 the Belorussian stained pig was in 1976 recognized as a multi- use group as a race.

Occurrence

The race consists of 9 lines and 26 families. In 1980, there were 102,000 animals. The main breeding areas of the Belorussian stained pig are Gontscharowski in Breszkaja Woblasz, Schgunski in Homelskaja Woblasz, Dsjarschynsk in Minsk Woblasz, Lenino in Mahiljouskaja Woblasz and Hrodsenskaja Woblasz. The breed is suitable as a mother and father's race and makes 0.3 % of the pigs from Belarus.
