(Pronounced pronounced Grunendaal, the G is like the roof at Ch ) The Groenendael is a variety of the Belgian Shepherd, which is recognized by the FCI Belgian breed (FCI Group 1, Section 1, Standard No. 15).

This type is used as all the varieties of the Belgian Shepherd, especially as protection and family dog.

Although the Belgian Shepherd Dogs form a common breed, a cross between two varieties is not recognized by FCI guidelines as racially pure. In special cases, the national breed associations can grant exceptions.
