The Tervueren is a variety of the Belgian Shepherd, an organization recognized by the FCI Belgian breed (FCI Group 1, Section 1, Standard No. 15). The Tervueren includes not only the Groenendael to the long-haired varieties of the Belgian Shepherd Dog.

As much as the Belgian shepherd dogs also differ in regard to the fur, so they are uniform but in all other characteristics such as body type, typical behavior and nature.

The dogs are reddish-brown with black mask and black Charbonnage.
