The Centre Bell ( former name Molson Centre ) is a multi-purpose hall in Montreal and since 16 March 1996, the venue for the home games of the Canadiens de Montréal, after the Forum de Montréal was closed on March 11.
Construction began on 22 June 1993, the opening took place on 16 March 1996. Originally, the arena was named after the main sponsor of the Canadiens, the Molson brewery, named. On 1 September 2002, the stadium was renamed after Bell Canada had acquired the naming rights.
The ground capacity is 21,273 spectators at hockey games, making it the largest arena in the NHL. In basketball games, see 19.945 spectators at the Centre Bell Place.
