Bellac

Bellac ( Occitan Belac ) is a commune with 4259 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute -Vienne, in the Limousin region; it is the administrative center for the district of Bellac and Canton of Bellac.

History

In the first half of the 10th century built the old Boso, Count of La Marche on a rocky outcrop above the Vincou a castle no longer obtained. Here is the place Bellac, who in the 12th century by Count Aldebert III. Developed City rights were granted. 1531 Bellac fell to the Crown.
