Mortemart

Mortemart ( Occitan: Mar Morta ) is a commune of the Haute -Vienne, in the Limousin region. Administratively, it is assigned to the Canton of Mézières- sur- Issoire and the Arrondissement of Bellac.

The village is classified as one of the plus beaux villages de France ( most beautiful villages in France ).

Geography

The village with 116 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) located in the Monts de Blond, the westernmost foothills of the Massif Central, 31 km north- west of Limoges. With an area of ​​only 3.6 square kilometers Morte Mart is the smallest municipality in the department of Haute -Vienne.

History
