Ben Sandford

Ben Sandford ( born March 12, 1979 in Rotorua ) is a New Zealand skeleton pilot.

Ben Sandford debuted in November 2002 at a race in the America's Cup in Lake Placid, where he finished 18th. In December he joined in Winterberg for the first time in the European Cup skeleton and finished ninth. The following season he was 12 as his debut in the Skeleton World Cup in Calgary. In 2004, he took in Koenigssee for the first time at Skeleton World Championships, where he was 21. In November 2004 he won in Calgary for the first time a race of the America 's Cup. In December, he was in a European Cup race in Koenigssee also third parties. Since the season 2005/ 06 Sandford stepped on, especially in the World Cup, and reached in November 2005 in Calgary for the first time in seventh place among the top ten. At the 2006 Olympics in Turin, he finished tenth. In the 2007 /08 season Sandford came in fourth place in Winterberg for the first time in a World Cup podium close race. At the World Cup he landed on 13th place at the Olympic Games 2010 in Vancouver, he finished in eleventh place. His biggest success he achieved in the 2010/11 season, when he reached the World Cup in St. Moritz third place and for the first time on the podium. At the 2011 World Championships in Koenigssee, he was twelfth. A year later he won the bronze medal at the 2012 World Championships in Lake Placid.

Ben's uncle Bruce Sandford was in 1992 Skeleton World Champion.
