Benedito de Ulhôa Vieira

Benedito de Ulhoa Vieira ( born October 9, 1920 in Mococa ) is Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Uberaba Brazil.

Life

Benedito de Ulhoa Vieira received on 8 December 1948, the ordination. In 1953 he received his doctorate in theology. Later he was Vicar General of the Archdiocese of São Paulo.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 29 November 1971 for the Auxiliary Bishop of São Paulo and Titular Bishop of Bitettum. The Archbishop of São Paulo, Paulo Evaristo Arns OFM, ordained him on January 25 of next year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in São Paulo, José Moreira Neves, OP Thurler and Lucas.

On July 14, 1978 Ulhoa de Vieira was appointed Archbishop of Uberaba. On 28 February 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
