Benita Hume

Benita Hume ( born October 14, 1906 in London, England; † November 1, 1967 in Egerton, England) was an English actress.

Life

Hume came to the stage in 1923 and debuted the following year in film. There they played mainly elegant and attractive ladies in thrillers and romances. With Maurice Elveys Crimean War Spionagemelodram Balaclava, also ran a sound version in the British cinema of the 1930, she succeeded in 1928, the breakthrough. In 1930 she played the lead female role of Leslie Fullerton Ivor Novello's drama in Symphony in Two Flats, with Benita Hume also had some success in London and New York stage. In 1932 she accepted an offer in Hollywood, but there really could not prevail. In 1955 she starred in the television series The Halls of Ivy.

In 1938, she retired from acting. She was married from 1926 to 1931 with Eric Otto Siepman. With the actor Ronald Colman she was married from 1938 until his death in 1958. The couple had a daughter in 1944, Juliet. From 1959 until her death she was married to actor George Sanders. Benita Hume died of bone cancer.
