Benjamin F. Isherwood

Benjamin Franklin Isherwood (* October 6, 1822 in New York City; † June 19, 1915 ) was an American railway and naval architect.

Benjamin Isherwood was an agent working in the engineering field officer in the United States Navy. He initially served here during the Mexican- American War as a mechanical engineer on early steam-powered warships of the U.S. Navy. After the war, he turned to the development of steam engines. He went on, this basic work to Rear Admiral and worked during the Civil War as Engineer -in- Chief of the Navy. He contributed to the establishment of the Bureau of Steam Engineering of the Navy.
