Benno Vigny

Benno Vigny ( born October 28, 1889 in COMMERCY; † 31 October 1965 in Munich ) was a German - French writer and screenwriter.

Life and work

Vigny grew up in Vienna and arrived in the 1920s to Berlin. There he began to collaborate with colleagues to work as a screenwriter, particularly for German -British co-productions.

In 1927 he published his novel Amy Jolly, the wife of Marrakech, whose film adaptation in 1930 in the United States founded Marlene Dietrich Hollywood career under the title of Morocco. Another 1927 report published by his novel was titled Nell John. The novel is a tapered.

At the beginning of the 1930s Vigny went to Paris and wrote there, again in collaboration with fellow writers, for international co-productions. The little-known film Bariole remained his only own staging.

After that Vigny was a screenwriter, only occasionally following the film events. With the co- screenplay for The Lost, the ambitious but little-noticed by the public debut staging of Peter Lorre, he was involved the last time on a film. He spent his life in Munich.
