Bergen aan Zee

Bergen aan Zee is a Dutch seaside village on the North Sea in the municipality of Bergen ( North Holland ). He is roughly ten kilometers west of Alkmaar and has about 470 inhabitants ( 2004).

Bergen aan Zee was founded in 1906 with the intention to create there for the municipality of Bergen, a seaside resort. Today there are close to the coast in five hotels and a number of guest houses and private lodgings - next to residential buildings for the local population as well as a handful of exposed situated villas. Unlike many other resorts are missing extended bungalow parks or campgrounds. A citizens' initiative prevented the planned extensive development of the village in place dune area Het Engelse Veld previously.
