The University of Economics and Law ( HWR ) Berlin is a public university and went on 1 April 2009 from the merger of the College of Economics (BSE ) and Berlin University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Legal Affairs Berlin ( FHVR ) out.

In five departments and three central institutions opportunities to study in the fields of business and economics, management, engineering, law and security in the area are offered.

The BSEL has three locations: the main campus is the location of Schöneberg. The buildings in the Badensche road house the central university administration, the Department of Economics and the Institute of Management Berlin ( IMB). History

Two predecessor institutions have been merged in the College of Business and Law April 1, 2009: The College of Economics (BSE ) and the Berlin University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Legal Affairs Berlin ( FHVR ).

The Berlin School of Economics was founded in 1971 as a successor to the business school, which in turn was in 1965 emerged from the Graduate School of Economics and the Higher business school and offered initially only the study program "Business " in day and evening classes at. In the late 1990s expanded the FHW Berlin her subjects to offer programs at MBA level and was one of the first MBA providers in Germany. Followed in 2003 by the integration of formerly independent profession Academy Berlin. At this time, two departments and a central institution was founded as organizational units.

The FHVR Berlin (until 1993 FHSVR ) was founded in 1973 as a training facility for careers in the higher civil service in (West) Berlin public service. In addition, the HWR Berlin maintains approximately 130 partnerships with universities on almost every continent, thus enabling the student and faculty exchange. The BSEL is one of the seven members in the German university network " Alliance for Excellence" ( UAS7 ).

Distance Learning Institute

In Distance Learning Institute (FSI ), the BSEL has bundled its distance learning programs. These allow for a continuing scientific education and the growing need for lifelong learning concepts therefore meet. Currently, the following courses are offered:

The FSI uses a combination of different learning methods, theories and media. Institute of Administrative Modernization and police reform in Central and Eastern Europe

The Institute of Administrative Modernization and police reform in Central and Eastern Europe ( IMO) was founded in 2008 as the central institution of the university. It is an interdisciplinary center of excellence for development, education and consultancy projects in the areas of administrative modernization and police reform in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe ( CEE).
