Bernard Anselme

Bernard Anselme ( born November 3, 1945 in Mouscron, Hainaut ) is a Belgian politician of the Parti Socialiste (PS ), who was among other things, Prime Minister of the Walloon Region and the French Community of Belgium.

Life

Union official, Deputy Secretary of State

After attending high school ( Athénée ) in Bastogne 1957 to 1960, he moved in 1960 to the Humanistic Gymnasium in Namur and graduated in 1963. Subsequently, he completed a study in the subjects Political Science, International Relations and Administrative Sciences at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB ), which he finished with a Licentiate in 1968.

Already during his school and university and cited by André Renard in Liege and Namur André Genot in large strike he was involved in the youth organization of the trade union federation Fédération Générale du Travail de Belgique / Algemeen Belgisch Vakverbond ( FGTB / ABVV ). In 1981, he became President of the Socialist Party in Wallonia and has held this position until 1983.

As a member of the Walloon Parliament supported Anselme, who was from 1982 to 1988 secretary of the Cultural Council of the French Community of Belgium, in November 1985 a bill which provided for the establishment of Walloon authorities in Wallonia. At the same time he advocated the election of Namur as the capital of the region, so as to emphasize the separate identity of Wallonia to Brussels.

Prime Minister of Wallonia and the French Community of Belgium

On May 11, 1988 Anselme was the successor of Guy Coëme Prime Minister of the Walloon Region and has held this post until his replacement by Guy Spitaels on 25 January 1992.

As prime minister of Wallonia he stepped in and agreed for the establishment of an employment office for the French Community Formation- Emploi ( FOREM ) in collaboration with the French Community and the financing of certain tasks for the region. It also saw the establishment of the Agence Wallonne à l' Exportation ( AWEX ), the Walloon Aueßnwirtschaftsagentur that allowed a number of foreign trade relations. Furthermore, it came to the construction of a number of administrative bodies in Namur for political and administrative official duties.

On January 7, 1992 Anselme Valmy Feaux succeeded as Prime Minister of the French Community of Belgium. He held until his replacement by Laurette Onkelinx on 6 May 1993 this function. He was also appointed on 7 March 1992 by Prime Minister Jean -Luc Dehaene in its first Government Minister for Social Affairs and has held this office until his resignation on 23 January 1994.

In January 1994, he returned to the government of Wallonia and held in this to July 1999, in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Robert Collignon the office of minister of the interior of the region.

On 1 January 2001 he assumed the office of Mayor of Namur and held that post until October 2006.
