Bernard Barsi

Bernard César Augustin Barsi ( born August 14, 1942 in Nice, France), archbishop of Monaco.

Life

Bernard Barsi received on 28 June 1969, the ordination. After working in pastoral ministry from 1969 to 1991 he was Vicar General from 1991 to 2000 in Nice; 1997-1998 also administrator of the diocese.

Pope John Paul II appointed him in 2000 to the 12th bishop and third archbishop of the Archdiocese of Monaco in Monaco. He received his episcopal consecration on October 8, 2000, the Bishop of Nice, Jean Bonfils, SMA; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Rennes, Saint- François Macary, and his predecessor, Joseph -Marie Sardou TD.

He is a member of the Committee of the Episcopal catechesis and the catechumenate of the French Bishops' Conference as well as chaplain of the brotherhood of penitents ( Confréries de pénitents ). He is Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Monaco grave in Jerusalem.

He led the funeral on the death of Prince Rainier III. and the wedding in 2011 of Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock at the Palace courtyard.
