Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Monaco

The Archdiocese of Monaco (Latin Archidioecesis Monoecensis ) was created in 1981 by the elevation of the existing since 1887 the diocese of the same name and includes the entire Principality of Monaco. It is directly subordinate to the Holy See ( Immediate ).

History

The Archdiocese of Monaco goes back to the Territorial Abbey of Saints Nicholas and Benedict, which was spun off in 1868 from the diocese of Nice. On March 15, 1887, the abbey was raised to the bishopric, and on 30 July 1981 for the Archdiocese.
