The Diocese of Nice ( Latin: Dioecesis Nicensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in France which extends over the area of the Alpes - Maritimes.

History

The Diocese of Nice was founded according to tradition, in the 3rd century. As the first bishop and founder of the Holy Bassus is worshiped. The first bishop certainly known is Armantius, who participated in 381 at a synod at Aquileia.

With the Concordat of 1801 was suffragan of the Archdiocese of Aix and there were added to it areas of the diocese Glandèves, and the bishoprics of Grasse and Vence. In 2002 it was placed under the Archdiocese of Marseille.
