Bernd Klotz

Bernd Klotz ( born September 8, 1958 in Pforzheim ) is a former German football player and coach.

Career

The youth in his home club 1.FC Duerrn grew up in the football circle Pforzheim striker - he was also in the youth teams of the Baden Football Federation of Association coach Pal Csernai - joined in 1975 in the youth department of the VfB Stuttgart. Under coach Oscar Hartl reached with the A- youth of Swabia twice the final of the German Cup. This he won in 1975 against FC Schalke 04 and lost it in 1977 against MSV Duisburg. His higher class career finally began in the amateurs of VfB Stuttgart in the first amateur league Nordwürttemberg. For the 1978/79 season, he joined the first team. His first league game he played on 4 November 1978, when he came off the bench on 12 match day match against Werder Bremen in the 77th minute for Walter Kelsch. Just two minutes later, he scored with a header assisted by Hansi Müller his first Bundesliga goal for the 1:1 final score. At the end of the season, six more times was used in the padding, the Swabians were German vice-champion. In the aftermath Klotz came to more missions, but was only for season 1980/81 starting players on the side of Walter Kelsch. In the summer of 1981 he moved to Borussia Dortmund. Klotz was there from the beginning and was a regular player with the BVB sixth in his first season. This placement allowed the Borussia participation in the UEFA Cup. There, they failed in the first round, although the Glasgow Rangers, but reached the national cup semi-final and lost there against Fortuna Köln. He was in league with the BVB - despite a 11-1 success over Arminia Bielefeld - seventh and missed so just re- qualification for the UEFA Cup. This was missed in the following season as a table Thirteenth clearly and Klotz - who was this season along with Erdal Keser top scorer of Borussia - left the club. Klotz moved to the Alsenweg to SV Waldhof Mannheim and remained there for three years. After the victory in the relegation against SV Darmstadt 98 and to remaining in the Bundesliga, he moved to Fortuna Dusseldorf in the 2nd Bundesliga. On the Lower Rhine him promptly succeeded in rising to the first division. He played two years then for the Fortuna in the Bundesliga before he ended his active career at Fortuna Köln.
