Bernhard Rieger

Bernhard Rieger ( born December 17, 1922 in Wißgoldingen, † April 10, 2013 in Kressbronn ) was Auxiliary Bishop of Rottenburg- Stuttgart.

Life

Bernhard Rieger, the youngest of eight children in a peasant family in the Ostalb, was first convened after the high school years in Rottenburg and Ehingen 1940 in the labor service, then the Wehrmacht. Rieger was on the East and on the Western Front until the war ended soldier and radio operator. In captivity was a seminarian in the so-called barbed wire seminar of Chartres, which was conducted 1945-1947 by Abbé Franz Stock as rain. In the German Bishops' Conference Rieger was a member of the Journalism Commission.

On 31 July 1996 John Paul II accepted his resignation and Rieger retired to Kressbronn.

Rieger was buried in his hometown Wißgoldingen.
