Carl Joseph Leiprecht

Carl Joseph Leiprecht ( born September 11, 1903 in Hauerz, now part of Bad Wurzach, † October 29, 1981 in Ravensburg ) was the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Rottenburg.

Biography

After graduation in 1923 at the high school Ehingen studied Carl Joseph Leiprecht 1923-1927 Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the University of Tübingen. On 24 March 1928 he was ordained priest by Bishop Joannes Baptista Sprollenhaus in Rottenburg Cathedral. From 1928 to 1932 he was vicar in Schwäbisch Gmünd at Holy Cross Minster and in Stuttgart in St. George, from 1932 Repetent.

In 1936 he became director of the Episcopal Gymnasialkonvikts in Ehingen and joined in 1942 as parish priest to Rottweil. In 1947 he was appointed canon in Rottenburg.

Pope Pius XII. appointed him on October 7, 1948 Titular Bishop of Scyrus and Auxiliary Bishop of Rottenburg. He received his episcopal consecration on 30 November 1948, the Archbishop of Freiburg, Wendelin smoke in Rottenburg Cathedral. Co-consecrators were the suffragans Wilhelmsburger from Freiburg and Franz Joseph Fischer from Rottenburg.

On July 21, 1949, he was elected eighth bishop of Rottenburg. The inauguration took place on September 8 of the same year. On June 4, 1974, Pope Paul VI. his resignation instead.

His final resting place he found in the tomb of Bishop Cemetery Church Sülchen.

Honors and Awards

Carl Josef Leiprecht was an honorary citizen of the cities Leutkirch im Allgäu and Rottenburg am Neckar. Leiprecht is named after the Free Catholic Elementary and Werkrealschule in Rottenburg am Neckar.
