Bernie Bickerstaff

Bernard Tyrone " Bernie " Bickerstaff ( born February 11, 1944 in Benham, Kentucky ) is an American basketball coach who is currently assistant coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA.

Bickerstaff was an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers. Also Executive Vice President of the Charlotte Bobcats, the first head coach and general manager he was.

He was still head coach of the Seattle SuperSonics in which he was even elected in the 1986/87 season for Coach of the Year. He was also head coach of the Denver Nuggets and Washington Bullets.

On 1 July 2008 Bickerstaff was as an assistant coach of the Chicago Bulls obliged to support rookie coach Vinny Del Negro. Until the summer of 2012 Bickerstaff was employed by the Bulls, but was then released with Del Negro. Bickerstaff was then given to the offer will be assistant coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. In summer 2012, he left the Blazers and changed to the Los Angeles Lakers. In November 2012 Bickerstaff was briefly interim head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers after head coach Mike Brown has been relieved of his duties.
