Bernie Brillstein

Bernard J. " Bernie " Brillstein ( born April 26, 1931 in New York City; † August 7, 2008 in Los Angeles ) was an American film and television producer.

Life and career

Born in Manhattan Brillstein studied at New York University and began his career working in the mailroom of the William Morris Agency Artists Agency (WMA) in New York. He worked his way up to the agent and was in the 1960s television producer. Brillstein founded in 1969 his own artistic agency, The Brillstein Company, which was also active in the development of television productions. His company produced in the sequence shows such as Hee Haw, The Muppet Show, Saturday Night Live and ALF.

Brillstein was his involvement with these successes, the personal manager of stars such as Gilda Radner, John Belushi ( Saturday Night Live), Jim Henson ( The Muppet Show ), and Paul Fusco ( ALF). In the early 1990s he founded a production company called Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, which produced the series The Sopranos, among others, for HBO. In addition, he was involved as executive producer on several films, including The Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters - Ghostbusters and Dragnet. On 18 April 2001 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his services. Brillstein died on 7 August 2008 of a heart ailment.
