Bertie Auld

Robert " Bertie " Auld ( born April 23 1938) is a former Scottish footballer.

Bertie Auld already changed in March 1955 to Celtic, but did not make progress mainly due to its lack of discipline and his eccentric character. After several shorter lending with smaller clubs in 1961, he moved to Birmingham City, where he won the 1963 League Cup.

In 1965 he returned presumably due to efforts Jock Stein's Celtic and almost spent the rest of his playing career with the club.

The midfield was through the effective collaboration between him and Billy Murdoch one of the key elements of the Celtic game.

He was an integral part of the team that won the Scottish Cup and the 1967 European Champion Clubs' Cup against Inter Milan nine times, which is why you, the players later than Lisbon Lions called (after the discharge location of the final match of the European Cup ).

It was Bertie Auld, who prior to the start of the game began to sing in the catacombs of the Lisbon stadium the Celtic song - much to the amusement of the Inter players.

1971 Auld left Celtic and joined Hibernian Edinburgh.

After the end of his playing career, he worked as a trainer for Partick Thistle, Hibernian and Dumbarton FC. He was also active for Hamilton Academical.

The former midfielder is now a regular guest of the official Celtic Celtic television channel TV. He is known for his penchant for choleric and for his stubborn nature when commenting on the association matters.

1959 Bertie Auld played three times for the Scottish national team.
